FAQ's

Q:

Can I meet my pet caregiver?

A:

We offer a meet and greet to all pet parents, we find that this is the best way for any dog to be more comfortable meeting a pet caregiver. Owners should also point out any tendencies their dog may have. This helps our team be aware of your pets preferences and understand any specific training concepts  before the walk. After you schedule your first appointment, we will follow up with an initial meet and greet with your pet caregiver.

Meet and greet costs are based upon the length of time that the person is at your home. The initial meeting cost will just be added to the first bill. This becomes more applicable as we sometimes have multiple meet and greets with different care givers. However. if you choose not to work with us after our initial visit - then it’s free.

Q:

I had a last minute meeting come up, can you add-on a same-day walk?

A:

We do our best to accommodate all requests, and most of the time we can schedule a same-day dog walking or pet sitting service. Let us know as soon as something comes up and we’ll get to work on scheduling it with you.

Q:

We’d really like our dogs to maintain the training we’re doing with them. Will your walkers provide reinforcement of training, or provide basic etiquette training? Do you work with any particular style of training?

A:

We strive to support each pets individual training methodology and routines your pets are accustomed to. We will follow all the training protocols you outline for us on walks. We can ensure your pet stops at the corner before crossing and sits before getting a treat. We are happy to customize your dog care to meet each pets individual needs. Please share this information by showing and telling us at your initial meet & greet. We will upload training documentation to your account and keep it on record for all staff. Our team only uses positive reinforcement methods (food, treat, distraction, clicker, create training, etc.)

Q:

I’m crunched for time--can you drive my pet to a vet visit? Or to their boarding facility?

A:

Our pet transport is one of our most popular services. We’ll come to your home, or workplace, and be sure your pets get where they need to go. We can accommodate round-trips and make sure your pet gets where they are going and back again. Our team can also pick-up and deliver your pets from boarding services to save stress on them and for you.

Q:

Do you require my puppy/dog to have had all their vaccines, or be spayed or neutered?

A:

Since many of our services are scheduled one-household at a time, we can care for puppies who haven’t had all their shots yet, or older pets who may still be intact. Our team uses pet cleanly practices before and after visits to ensure your pets safety. The only limitation is skipping the dog park or other group outings until vaccinations are up to date or they’re all healed from surgery.

Q:

Do you administer medication to pets? What about insulin or Sub-Q fluids? Is there any extra charge?

A:

All of our pet caregivers will administer medication (pills, drops, supplements) with no additional charge to you. While we do not charge extra for insulin or Sub-Q fluids, it may be necessary to schedule a re-meet with your pet sitter to instruct them on how to administer these. Each re-meet incurs a fee of $15 for a 30 minute session. Please note that we do not administer medication to any pets that pose a danger to our pet sitters.

Q:

Do you come to my house or do my pets go someplace?

A:

Our primary focus is on in-your-home pet sitting, which allows your pets to stay in their home environment. We do this to keep a familiar schedule during your absence. Our goal is to match your routine and schedule, to the best of our ability, so your pets stay happy and stress-free.

Q:

My dog loves adventures! Do you offer hikes or other outings that are more exciting than a walk?

A:

We understand that the same neighborhood routes can get kind of dull for some pups. If your dog needs a longer adventure, schedule a Solo Adventure customized for your pup with approximately 90 minutes of trail time dedicated just to them!

Q:

What does the initial consultation / meet & greet entail? Does it cost anything? Do we need to meet again every time I leave town?

A:

We tailor our services to fit the needs of your household and our initial meet & greet allows us to know each other better. We will familiarize ourselves with you, your pet, their routine, and your home. We go over all the essential details and expectations for care. Your initial meet & greet is free of charge for the first 30 minutes and it is just $15 for each additional 30 minutes you need to add. If you have to leave town, we do not need to meet again unless there has been a significant change to your pet or routine since our initial meeting.

Q:

How does our Pet Sitter get access to my home? How safe are my house keys?

A:

We are able to accommodate the option that works best for you.

Q:

My dog loves going to the off-leash dog park near our house. Can you take them there during a scheduled visit?

A:

We are glad to visit off leash dog parks in Portland. We can take your pet to visit the park instead of an on-leash walk as long as it is within a mile of your home. There are no added fees unless we need to transport your pet to the park. Travel length of transport and playtime will need to be calculated.

Q:

How and when do I pay you?

A:

What if my pet(s) become(s) ill or injured while I am away?

A:

We contact your preferred vet(s) first, if they are unavailable, we’ll default our veterinarian. If you have a specific situation you’d like to discuss, please reach out so we can learn how to best support you

Q:

Will my pet sitter always be the same person? What if my pet requires limited walkers/pet sitters?

A:

Yes, we will make every attempt to use the same person for all of your pet care needs. Our goal is to provide you a stable and consistent pet caregiver that will treat your pet/home as their own. We only hire the best of the best so you can be sure your pets and home are in good hands

Q:

Are you Insured?

A:

Dog Walking and Pet Sitting is covered by our commercial liability insurance policy. We are also bonded for in-home protection. We’re happy to show you a copy of our policies upon request.

Q:

Do you do walks on major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas?

A:

We do offer dog walking and pet sitting services 365 days a year with no limitations on service-types or service hours. A few of the major holidays do have a holiday fee of $10/day. This helps us compensate our team for working through the holiday in lieu of spending time with family and friends.

Q:

What are you doing about COVID-19?

A:

We have contactless walking available. Our team uses hand sanitizer before the walk begins and after the walk ends. We also wear mask upon entering the home (we do allow our team to pull down masks during their walk, provided they can maintain a social distance from all people). Our team is using their own leash for each dog, and ensuring we touch the least amount of your personal dog equipment as possible.

Additionally, during the inclement weather we ask that you place a towel outside, or inside near the door, that can be used solely by our team. Upon request we can discuss further safety options. Your well-being and sense of security are the most important thing to Doggie Deeds We are open to any conversation about how we can maintain these things for you.
